Linwood Center
EIN: 52-0659515 · Ellicott City, MD
Our Story
Founded in 1955 by therapist Jeanne Simons, Linwood Center opened its doors to children with autism at a time when the condition was largely misunderstood. This pioneering organization created a school and residential haven, becoming the first of its kind to offer relief to families. Linwood's legacy is intertwined with early autism research, including the development of the 'Linwood Method' by Dr. Leo Kanner and Charles Ferster, which emphasizes respect, dignity, and self-determination.
Impact
Linwood Center provides lifelong services that empower individuals with autism to lead extraordinary lives through education, vocational training, and residential support.
