Transforming Lives Through Literacy

Established in 1972, Lincoln Literacy Council (LLC) began as a volunteer-driven initiative to help native-born Americans improve their reading and writing skills. As the City of Lincoln welcomed a wave of refugees in the 1980s, LLC adapted its mission to include teaching English to these new residents. Incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 1993, Lincoln Literacy has grown to serve over a thousand individuals each year through personalized tutoring and diverse small-group classes across the city.

Making a Lasting Impact

Lincoln Literacy has received numerous accolades, including the Governor’s Award for Innovation, recognizing its effectiveness in fostering transformative educational outcomes.
