Our Story

Lighthouse Ministries was founded in the mid-1970s by Carl Warnock and Jim Welch, who recognized the urgent needs of the transient population in Lakeland, Florida. In 1977, they opened the Lakeland Lighthouse Rescue Mission, dedicated to serving the least, the last, and the lost through essential services such as food, clothing, and shelter. Today, Lighthouse Ministries continues this vital mission, evolving to meet the needs of the homeless communities in Central Florida.
