Lighthouse Children's Home
EIN: 59-1725801 · Tallahassee, FL
Our Story
In the mid-1970s, Pastor Rayburn Blair envisioned a safe haven for children in need. With the support of the Temple Baptist Church in Tallahassee, 14 acres were donated to establish a children’s home. Billy Hudson, a dedicated police officer, and his family began caring for girls needing temporary shelter. Through the Gospel in Song radio broadcast, funds were raised, and in October 1977, the Lighthouse Children's Home opened its doors, initially serving boys and girls of all ages. By the late 80s and early 90s, the focus shifted to providing a nurturing environment exclusively for troubled teen girls.
