Our Story
For over 50 years, Licking County Players has been a cornerstone of community theater in Licking County, Ohio. Originally founded as the Welsh Hills Players, the organization has evolved through four distinct phases, each marked by growth and resilience. From humble beginnings in a church hall to a historic auditorium downtown, LCP has embraced the rich tradition of live theater.
In 1981, the group transitioned to the old Auditorium Theater, a venue steeped in history, where they revived the classic "Pirates of Penzance"—the very first show performed in the new theater back in 1894. Over the years, LCP has produced a diverse array of performances, showcasing local talent and engaging the community.
Today, Licking County Players operates from a renovated former funeral home, producing eight shows a year alongside various initiatives such as Suitcase Theater, Dinner Theater, and Children's Workshops. The organization honors its past members through memorials on the property, ensuring that their legacy continues to inspire future generations.
