Our Story
Liberty’s Kitchen began in 2008 with a vision to create a safe haven for young adults in New Orleans. Founded by Janet Gorence Davas, the organization started across from a courthouse, providing meals, job opportunities, and a supportive community. Over the years, it has welcomed over 1,000 young people, offering a transformative 12-week paid job-training program that equips them with essential workforce skills in the culinary field and beyond.
Impact
Liberty’s Kitchen has significantly impacted the lives of youth by empowering them through structured training and support. Graduates are invited to join the Youth Leadership Council, fostering a cycle of guidance and empowerment.
