Our Story

The Lewisboro Library, originally established in 1798 as the Salem Library, stands as one of New York State's oldest chartered voluntary libraries. Reorganized in 1897 and renamed in 2008, it has evolved to serve the entire Town of Lewisboro. The library transitioned from a volunteer-run organization to a professional establishment in 1964, and underwent significant renovations in 2015 to modernize its facilities and expand its services.
