Founded in 1962 by Los Angeles philanthropists Mrs. W. Tharpe Smith and Mrs. Homer Toberman, Les Amies began as a small group of resourceful women dedicated to generating funds for the Big Sister League, now known as Children’s Institute, Inc. (CII). Over the years, this organization has evolved to support vulnerable children affected by family and community violence or poverty, impacting over 30,000 children and families annually.
Les Amies has contributed nearly $1.6 million to Children’s Institute over the past decade, significantly enhancing programs that provide essential mental health services and educational support to children and families in need.
