The L'Enfant Trust, founded in 1978, is dedicated to protecting the historic architecture of Washington, D.C. Through its nationally recognized Conservation Easement Program, the Trust safeguards nearly 1,150 historic structures from demolition and inappropriate modifications. In 2013, the Trust expanded its mission with the Historic Properties Redevelopment Program, focusing on rehabilitating distressed historic buildings to provide workforce housing and stabilize neighborhoods.
