Our Story

The Leila Janah Foundation, founded by Leila Janah in 2008, began as Sama, a nonprofit dedicated to employing low-income individuals in Kenya and Uganda to train AI datasets. In 2018, the foundation launched the Give Work Challenge to support aspiring entrepreneurs in East Africa. Following Janah's passing in 2020, the organization was renamed to honor her legacy and continues to promote entrepreneurship in the region.

Impact

Since its inception, the Leila Janah Foundation has awarded $138,000, funded 33 teams, and created 245 jobs in East Africa through its Give Work Challenge.
