Our Story
The Leila Arboretum Society was founded in 1981 by dedicated citizens committed to restoring the arboretum's beauty after decades of neglect. Originally donated in 1922 by Leila Post Montgomery, the arboretum was envisioned as a cultural center surrounded by nature. Today, LAS thrives with hundreds of volunteers and a variety of community projects and educational programs.
Impact
Attracting over 40,000 visitors annually, LAS has successfully implemented more than 50 community projects that enhance neighborhood spirit and quality of life. The organization manages diverse gardens and educational programs, contributing to the beautification and cultural enrichment of Battle Creek.
