Our Story
The Latvian Medical Foundation was established in 1990 to address the critical healthcare challenges faced by Latvia after gaining independence from the Soviet Union. The foundation emerged from the First Latvian World Congress in Medicine, which underscored the urgent need for medical support. Over the years, LMF has mobilized emergency aid, supported hospitals, and created fellowships for young doctors to study abroad, ensuring they bring back vital knowledge to improve healthcare in Latvia. Recently, LMF has expanded its mission to assist Ukrainian medical personnel affected by the ongoing conflict.
