Economic Advancement

Our Story

On a warm spring night in 1991, a tragic incident sparked unrest in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood of Washington, DC. In response to the violence and the systemic challenges faced by the Latino community, a group of visionary bankers, business professionals, and civil rights activists came together to form the Latino Economic Development Corporation of Washington, DC. This organization, now known as the Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC), was established to address the economic and social barriers that low-income Latinos and other underserved communities encounter.

Impact

LEDC is dedicated to driving the economic and social advancement of low to moderate income Latinos and other underserved communities across DC, Maryland, Virginia, and Puerto Rico. By equipping individuals with essential skills and tools, LEDC empowers them to achieve financial independence and become leaders in their communities.
