Our Story

In 1995, three visionary women recognized the struggles faced by impoverished Hispanic females in Houston. They founded the Latin Women’s Initiative, originally known as the Mexican Women’s Initiative, to empower this community through education and support. In 2006, the organization was renamed to reflect the diverse Hispanic population it serves. Over the years, LWI has raised over $2.5 million for local nonprofits, significantly impacting the lives of thousands.
