Founded in the mid-1990s by Marie Steele and Tamara Marquez-Nugent, Lap Dog Rescue of New Mexico is dedicated to recovering, rehabilitating, and permanently rehoming small companion dogs. With a 501C-3 status since 2001, the organization is now led by Marie's son, Brian Spence, and relies on passionate volunteers to provide care and foster homes for dogs in need.
Since its inception, LDRNM has saved thousands of dogs, rescuing over 700 in 2017 alone and successfully rehoming more than 620. The organization has received multiple recognitions for its commitment to animal rescue and adoption.
