Our Story

The Lancers Senior Drum & Bugle Corps, originally formed in 1920 at the Harold H. Bair Post 14, American Legion in Hanover, Pennsylvania, has a rich history of musical excellence. After disbanding in 1983 due to financial challenges, a reunion in 1990 reignited the spirit of the corps, bringing together alumni from various decades. Today, the Lancers proudly boast over 100 members, ranging in age from 15 to 75, representing a diverse community united by a passion for music.

Recognized as York County’s Music Ambassadors, the Lancers have performed in prestigious events such as the National Apple Blossom Parade and the National Cherry Blossom Parade. Their participation in “America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration” in Plymouth, MA, marked their entry into the alumni drum corps circuit, leading to numerous performances across the mid-Atlantic region.

Impact

The Lancers Drum and Bugle Corps is dedicated to educating and enriching the lives of both performers and listeners. Through skilled musical leadership and the commitment of its members, the corps maintains a legacy of high-level drum corps performance, engaging the greater York community and beyond.
