Empowering the Lakota Community Through Language

The Lakota Language Consortium, established in 2004, is dedicated to revitalizing and preserving the Lakota language. Comprised of Lakota Elders and Native leaders, this educational nonprofit organization focuses on providing essential resources and support for Lakota students and teachers. By ensuring that the Lakota language is spoken in every household, LLC fosters a strong cultural identity.

Impacting Lives Through Language Education

Since its inception, LLC has positively impacted over 20,000 Lakota children, developing the first-ever professionally designed Lakota language materials for schools. Partnering with 53 schools across North and South Dakota, LLC equips teachers with the tools needed to nurture a new generation of fluent Lakota speakers.
