Our Story

The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine was established in 1992 to address the growing need for healthcare professionals in underserved areas. Originating from the challenges faced by Millcreek Community Hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania, LECOM has evolved into one of the largest medical schools in the nation, focusing on training osteopathic physicians, pharmacists, and dentists.

Impact

LECOM has trained over 9,200 graduates who are now making significant contributions to primary care and rural healthcare. With a commitment to community service, students contribute over 30,000 hours annually, earning recognition on the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll.
