Our Story
The Lake Central Education Foundation (LCEF) was established in the winter of 1995-1996, inspired by Martha Sandoval of the Schererville Chamber of Commerce. A dedicated group of community members came together to create a foundation that would support local education. By the summer of 1996, LCEF was actively engaging with the community, participating in parades, distributing pamphlets, and recruiting members. The foundation's first grants were awarded in the fall of that year, totaling $3,892.00. Since then, LCEF has awarded 604 grants amounting to over $310,000, significantly enhancing educational opportunities for students.
