About Lake Arrowhead Conservation Council

The Lake Arrowhead Conservation Council (LACC) emerged from a dedicated group of waterfront owners, initially known as MAG Force, led by Dave Sanfason. Recognizing the urgent need to address the invasive variable leaf milfoil problem in Lake Arrowhead, the group formed the Lake Improvement Committee. Under the leadership of trustee Mike Fitzpatrick, LACC was established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, enabling access to essential federal and state grants.

Since its inception, LACC has partnered with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, the Coalition of Lake Associations, and the Maine Volunteer Lake Monitoring Program, creating the most robust DASH (Diver Assisted Suction Harvesting) program in the state. The organization has successfully built and operated two DASH harvesters, significantly improving the management of invasive aquatic plants.

With over 160 members, LACC has fostered strong relationships with the towns of Limerick and Waterboro, both of which contribute annually to the mission of milfoil removal. Fundraising events such as the LAC/LACC Golf Tournament, 50/50 Raffle, Bingo, Yard Sales, and Fishing Tournaments have been instrumental in supporting these efforts.
