Our Story
The Lafayette Public Library Foundation (LPLF) was established in 1991 by visionary community leaders who recognized the importance of private support in building exceptional libraries. Under the leadership of Bill McGoffin and Director Sonya Branch, the Foundation achieved nonprofit status in 1993, becoming a vital force for growth and impact within Lafayette’s library system. Over the years, LPLF has funded significant projects that enhance literacy and community engagement, including the 1000 Books for Kindergarten initiative and the annual Lafayette Reads Together program.
