Ladies Hospital Aid Society

Our Story

Founded in 1898, the Ladies Hospital Aid Society of Western Pennsylvania began with a group of 17 compassionate women dedicated to addressing the urgent needs of the sick and impoverished in their neighborhoods. Recognizing the struggles of the immigrant population, LHAS has evolved to implement vital programs for the elderly and women’s health care, including the LHAS Arbor at Weinberg Village and the LHAS Women’s Heart Center.

Impact

With over $15 million raised and millions of volunteer hours contributed, LHAS allocates more than $350,000 annually to research, community projects, and educational seminars. The organization has provided over 2,500 emergency care packets and clothing to trauma patients, showcasing its commitment to community welfare.
