Our Story

The Lab School of Washington was founded in 1967 by Sally L. Smith as a day school dedicated to children with learning disabilities. Since becoming an independent non-profit in 1982, the school has focused on innovative teaching methods that integrate the arts into education, helping students with learning differences thrive academically.

Impact

With approximately 390 students across two campuses, The Lab School has successfully educated children with learning differences, achieving remarkable academic success and personal growth. The establishment of a Global Division has further expanded its reach beyond Washington, DC.
