Our Story
In 1954, a group of dedicated women, including Vera Foss, Margaret Talbott, and Dorothy Power, came together to improve the living conditions of migrant seasonal farm workers and their families in Mesa County. Their efforts mobilized local churches and organizations to provide essential services such as food, clothing, medical care, and childcare. Over the years, this initiative evolved into Community Child Care and Migrant Services, Inc., now known as La Plaza. Today, La Plaza continues to adapt its approach to meet the changing needs of the migrant farmworker population, addressing both basic needs and complex challenges faced by immigrant and migrant communities.
