Our Story

La Cheim School has been a beacon of hope for over 50 years, providing essential services to vulnerable and marginalized children, adolescents, and adults in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. Founded in 1974 in the basement of a church, La Cheim emerged from a community-driven initiative aimed at supporting at-risk youth facing challenges such as removal from their homes and involvement in the criminal justice system. The mission has always been clear: to create a comprehensive array of treatment and educational programs that engage clients and foster community and family alliances for lasting success.

Impact

Each year, La Cheim serves over 500 individuals, delivering high-quality mental health and educational services to those in need. The organization is dedicated to dismantling health and social inequities while building strong community partnerships.
