Our Story

L.I. Against Domestic Violence was founded in 1976 as a pioneer in supporting victims and survivors of abuse on Long Island. This organization has dedicated itself to providing essential services that help over 14,000 adults and children each year escape from abusive relationships and build new lives.

Impact

Each year, 70-100 adults, children, and companion animals find safety in our Safe Harbor Shelter. Our hotline receives 5,000-6,000 calls for assistance, highlighting the urgent need for our services.
