Our Story

In the early 1970s, Kim Nam Hui, a Korean wife of an American serviceman, united fellow Korean wives to share meals and cultural connections. This small gathering blossomed into the Korean Women’s Association (KWA), which began its journey by fundraising through the sale of traditional Korean foods at Fort Lewis and McChord Air Force Base. As the community grew, so did the services offered, including transportation, translation, and support for women facing domestic violence.

Impact

KWA serves over 10,000 clients annually, providing multi-cultural, multi-lingual human services to diverse communities.
