Our Story

The Kirkland Town Library first opened its doors on December 11, 1901, with just 32 circulating books. Established through community contributions, it has grown significantly over the years, becoming a charter member of the Mid-York Library System in 1959. A major expansion project in 1995, funded largely by community support, has allowed the library to enhance its services and facilities.

Impact

In 2011, the library welcomed over 91,500 visitors and circulated approximately 117,000 items. It answered over 5,100 reference questions, providing free wifi and computer access to students, thus enhancing educational resources for the community.
