Our Story

Kidz1stFund was founded by Jimbo and Candi Fisher in response to their son Ethan's diagnosis of Fanconi anemia in 2011. This rare genetic blood disease poses significant challenges, including bone marrow failure and increased cancer risk. Since its inception, Kidz1stFund has dedicated itself to raising awareness and funding critical research to combat this disease, while also promoting the importance of joining the National Bone Marrow Registry.

Impact

With the generous support of donors and sponsors, Kidz1stFund has contributed over $11.2 million to the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital, the leading institution for Fanconi anemia research. This funding has played a vital role in improving the life expectancy of children affected by FA and expanding the National Bone Marrow Registry, with over 7,500 individuals joining through our sponsored drives.
