Our Story

Founded in 2002 by Mary K. Hoodhood, Kids Food Basket began with a simple mission: to address childhood hunger in West Michigan. Responding to a local school principal's call, the organization started with just $3,000 and a handful of volunteers, providing Sack Suppers to 125 students at three schools. Today, Kids Food Basket has grown to serve thousands of children and families across four counties, focusing on food equity and community-driven solutions.

Impact

Since its inception, Kids Food Basket has served over 227,666 healthy meals, engaging thousands of volunteers and significantly improving food security for children in the region.
