Our Story
The KGSA Foundation was born from a chance encounter in Kibera, where Ryan Banning and friends met Abdul Kassim, the visionary behind the Kibera Girls Soccer Academy. Inspired by Abdul's dream of establishing a free secondary school for girls, they rallied support to make this vision a reality. Officially registered as a nonprofit in 2011, the foundation champions locally-led community development and the empowerment of girls in Kibera.
Impact
Every year, KGSA provides a free, holistic high school education to 150 girls, focusing on leadership, health, and higher education opportunities. With over 400 graduates since its inception, KGSA boasts a remarkable 100% qualification rate for higher education, earning recognition for its innovative educational approach in one of Africa's largest informal settlements.
