Our Story

The Keystone State Games were established in 1980 through a resolution by Representative Joseph R. Pitts and approved by the Pennsylvania General Assembly. In 1983, Keystone State Games Inc. was formed with the support of former Governor Richard Thornburgh to ensure the Games thrive independently of government funding. Since then, over 500,000 participants have engaged in various athletic events, fostering a spirit of competition and community.

By promoting physical fitness and sportsmanship, the Keystone State Games serve as a vital health improvement and disease prevention strategy for all Pennsylvanians and participants from beyond.
