Kern Dance Alliance (KDA) evolved from the Kern Classical Ballet Company, founded in 1996 to enhance the appreciation of ballet through education and outreach. After a brief hiatus, KDA was rebranded in 2012 to better serve the Kern dance community, officially launching in 2015. KDA focuses on scholarships, professional development for teachers, and community initiatives.
With over 60,000 residents served, KDA has produced more than 150 events and received recognition in various media outlets. The organization utilizes dance to teach essential skills, improve lives affected by dementia, support cancer patients, and inspire impoverished communities.
