Our Story
Founded in 1965 by community and religious leaders, the Kenwood-Oakland Community Organization (KOCO) stands as one of Chicago's oldest grassroots, Black membership-based organizations. KOCO employs direct action community organizing to tackle pressing issues such as affordable housing, equitable education, youth investment, and senior rights. Notable achievements include the construction of King High School and the successful re-opening of Dyett High School, showcasing KOCO's commitment to transformative change.
