The Story of the Kent Grand Organ

The Kent Grand Organ, originally built in 1878 by Hutchings, Plaisted & Co., has a rich history that began in Salem, Massachusetts. After its journey through time, the organ found a new home at the Kent Lutheran Church in Kent, Washington, where it is now being renovated and installed as part of the Gathering Place for Culture and Arts. This initiative was born from a community desire to create a vibrant space for cultural and artistic expression, reflecting the diverse fabric of Kent.

Impact of the Kent Grand Organ

Once restored, the Kent Grand Organ will stand as one of the few surviving Hutchings organs in the world and the only truly symphonic organ in the Pacific Northwest, enriching the community's cultural landscape.
