Empowering Lives Through Literacy

The Kenosha Literacy Council (KLC), established in 1965, is dedicated to improving adult literacy in Kenosha County. Located at the Uptown Branch of the Kenosha Public Library, KLC believes that literacy is a fundamental human right. With the support of over 200 volunteer tutors, KLC assists more than 600 adults each year, providing essential programs in health literacy, financial literacy, citizenship, and workplace literacy.

Transforming Communities

KLC’s impact is profound. Every adult learner, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to enhance their literacy skills. Remarkably, 100% of students improve their English literacy skills, with 62% advancing at least one grade level. Many learners secure better employment opportunities or choose to further their education at Gateway Technical College.

Support Literacy Initiatives

Your donation to KLC is a powerful investment in the future of our community. Contributions help provide free tutoring, workshops, and educational materials, enabling individuals to improve their reading, writing, and communication skills. Every dollar counts in the fight against illiteracy.
