Our Story

Kensington Community Corporation for Individual Dignity, known as KenCCID, was founded in 1974 by dedicated families in the Kensington area of Philadelphia. These families recognized the urgent need for quality services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities during a time of significant change in care practices. With the first Community Living Arrangement opening in 1977, KenCCID has been committed to providing a nurturing environment where individuals can thrive and achieve their personal goals.

Impact

KenCCID has successfully secured jobs for 40 residents and provided homes for 160 individuals with disabilities, including 24 former residents of the Pennhurst State Institution.
