Our Story

Katherine Anne Layman, affectionately known as Baby Kate, was born in June 2006 and faced the challenges of congenital heart defects. After enduring numerous medical procedures, she passed away at just 18 months. During her hospital stays, Kate found joy in being read to and looking at books. In her honor, her family initiated a mission to give away new books to children in local hospitals, aiming to brighten the days of families facing difficult times.

Our Impact

Kate's Kart proudly gives away over 3,500 books each month to hospitalized children, providing comfort and joy during their challenging experiences. This initiative not only promotes literacy but also encourages families to bond over reading, fostering a lifelong love of books.
