Our Story

Founded by Ann Chasson and Mary Rubin, The Dancing Cat opened in May 2015 as a four-week pop-up cat adoption lounge. The overwhelming success led to a five-month operation, welcoming over 2000 guests and finding homes for over 50 cats. This success highlighted the need for a permanent cat adoption lounge in Silicon Valley. In May 2016, The Dancing Cat partnered with Silicon Valley Pet Project, and by September 2018, it became an independent rescue organization. Today, The Dancing Cat continues to provide a cage-free environment for adult cats, allowing them to thrive and find loving homes.

Our Impact

The Dancing Cat's unique lounge environment allows previously homeless adult cats to roam freely, play, and showcase their true personalities. This approach not only enhances their chances of adoption but also significantly reduces the euthanasia rate in Silicon Valley.
