The Karen Organization of San Diego (KOSD) was founded in 2009 by members of the Karen community, who sought to create a supportive environment for over 2,000 refugees from Burma. These individuals fled violence and persecution, and KOSD has been instrumental in helping them build a new life in San Diego. Through resilience and mutual support, community members have navigated complex healthcare and education systems, learned new languages, and started new careers, all while preserving their rich cultural heritage.
