Our Story

The Kansas City Medical Society was established in 1881 by dedicated physicians committed to professional ethics and medical education. Over the decades, it has played a pivotal role in addressing community health challenges, from combating contaminated food and dairy products in the early 1900s to founding the Community Blood Bank in the 1950s. The Society's legacy includes the establishment of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City in the 1930s, and it has since merged with other medical societies to serve both Missouri and Kansas, tackling shared healthcare issues.

Impact

Each year, the Kansas City Medical Society coordinates over $8 million in donated charitable care, significantly enhancing healthcare access for uninsured individuals in the Kansas City area.
