Our Story

Kalkaal Maternity Care (KMC) was founded to address the preventable tragedy of maternal and child deaths in rural Somalia. Inspired by the heartbreaking story of Mariam, a young mother who lost her life due to inadequate access to quality maternal healthcare, KMC is dedicated to improving health outcomes for mothers and children. Managed by a team of experienced women in healthcare and community service, KMC operates referral health centers in the regions of Awrbogays and Widhwidh.

Our Impact

KMC aims to significantly reduce maternal and child mortality rates by providing accessible, quality healthcare services in rural Somalia. With two referral health centers now serving over 50 villages, the organization is on track to achieve a 50% reduction in morbidity and mortality rates among women and children by December 31, 2024.
