Our Story

The Parks Foundation of Kalamazoo County was established in 1988 by a dedicated group of citizens committed to preserving parkland at the former Morris Markin estate. This initiative led to the creation of Markin Glen County Park, which opened its west side in 1994 after a successful fundraising campaign. The Foundation has since partnered with the County to protect and develop parklands throughout Kalamazoo County.
