Founded in 1932 by Yonoichi “Yono” Kitagawa, Kaka'ako Boxing Club is the oldest boxing club in the nation, dedicated to serving the residents of Kaka’ako and the surrounding areas. Reorganized in 1980 by Masa and George Nakaoka, the club has become a cornerstone of the Honolulu community, providing a safe and supportive environment for underserved and at-risk youth and young adults. Through boxing, members develop confidence, coordination, and essential life skills.
