Founded in 1996 by a dedicated group of men at the Miracles Club, Just Men in Recovery was inspired by the Women of Spiritual Walkers. Originally named Men of Spiritual Walkers, the organization rebranded in 1998 to better reflect its mission of supporting African American men and youth in overcoming substance abuse challenges, particularly during the crack epidemic.
Just Men in Recovery has successfully provided culturally specific peer support services, annual retreats, and community events that foster recovery and self-awareness among African American men and youth.
