Our Story

Founded in 1968 by Gordon Gottsche, Just A Start began as a youth training and community revitalization initiative in Cambridge’s Wellington-Harrington neighborhood. Over the years, the organization has evolved to provide affordable housing, education, and job training, focusing on individuals and families who have been systemically denied opportunities.

Impact

Since its inception, Just A Start has been dedicated to addressing the needs of community members facing systemic barriers. Annually, the organization creates pathways to possibilities for over 3,000 individuals and families, promoting equity and economic stability in Cambridge and beyond.
