Our Story

Just A Penny Please was founded with a heartfelt mission: to create safe, pet-friendly shelters for abused children. In 2018, the organization gained national attention by walking across America to raise funds for a shelter at the Verde Valley Sanctuary in Cottonwood, Arizona. Thanks to the generosity of thousands of donors, the first pet-friendly shelter for abused kids in Northern Arizona opened its doors in March 2019.

Impact

Since its inception, Just A Penny Please has provided a safe haven for children and their pets, addressing the dual trauma of domestic violence and the need for pet companionship. The shelter has been fully occupied every day since its opening, underscoring the urgent need for such facilities.
