Our Story
The Junior League of Des Moines was founded in 1926 by Ruth Wallace-Wijkman and ten other charter members. Originally known as the Junior Social Service League, it became a member of the Association of Junior Leagues International in 1931. Over the decades, JLDM has been dedicated to community service, evolving from the Junior League Convalescent Home for Children into ChildServe, and focusing on various initiatives that uplift women and families.
