Our Story
In 1927, John Emory Andrus honored his late wife, Julia Dyckman Andrus, by establishing an orphanage on a 110-acre tract in Yonkers. This sanctuary evolved from Julia's childhood home into a haven for children in need, supported by the Surdna Foundation. Over the years, Andrus has adapted to meet the needs of children with Severe Emotional Disturbance (SED), expanding its services to include community-based programs and mental health clinics.
