Our Story

Established in 1997, the Judge Ben Gordon Jr Family Visitation Center, known as Safe Connections, was founded by Sharon Rogers in response to a pressing need in Okaloosa County. A coalition of child advocates, including psychologists, judges, and domestic violence advocates, recognized the risks faced by children and adult victims during court-ordered visitations. Safe Connections was created to provide a secure and structured environment for these vulnerable families, ensuring their safety during critical interactions.
